TOPIC: GIVING: YOUR ATTITUDE DETERMINES YOUR HARVEST – PART 2
BIBLE: 2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
God is not in need! Whatever you give in God’s name on earth is for the benefit of another man or woman somewhere. It is important to give to God with the understanding that, we are the ones in need of his blessing and that, he will bless us when we give In his name and with the right motive.
Beloved, don’t give whatever you cannot give with thanksgiving and joy in your heart. Don’t give to God grudgingly or with remorse as if he is a beggar. Whatever you cannot give to God or man happily is not a seed because it won’t bring a worthy harvest. When you give as a matter of necessity, you will be tempted to speak wrong words after giving. When you feel bad for giving a certain amount in Church and talk about it to everyone that asked you for money, it shows you are regretting giving it to God. Those who sow in secret will reap openly. If the purpose of giving is for boasting, human praise is your reward.
Brethren, when you plant your seed, water it with the word of promise in God’s word. Speak the word of faith and not lamentation. Tell your seed “you shall bring me a good harvest”. I will reap the harvest in good health in Jesus’ name. Don’t destroy your seed with your wrong words. Beware!!! We must also learn to be patient for the harvest of whatever you give. Don’t complain about the delay. In fact, it is better to take your heart off it till the harvest will come.
Finally, God loves a cheerful giver. Be joyful when you are giving to God or man. Being joyful when you are sowing your seed is a sign of absolute faith and trust in God. When you live in doubt, that is when you will be feeling sorrow for yourself for giving such seed to God or man.
Remember, whatever a man sow he shall reap and he who shows sparingly shall reap sparingly and whoever sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Your giving should be as you have purposed in your heart, not as forced or compelled by a pastor. Please, don’t fall for the tricks of money raisers. Give what you know you can give joyfully without regret and you will grow to give more with time.
