TOPIC: BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR FINANCIAL PROSPERITY – PART 3
BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal, it shall be measured to you again.
……For with the same measure that ye mete withal,l it shall be measured to you again…..
As a subsistent farmer, I carefully choose the seed I would plant at the beginning of the season of planting, do you know why? I know my seed will determine my harvest. When I got to the chicken store to buy broilers or cockerel for my backyard poultry, I usually take my time to study them for a few minutes and choose the most active and healthy among them. Why do you think I invest time in doing that? The health condition of the bird I sow into my poultry will determine what I will get in the time of harvest. Beloved, what you are sowing into your job, business, labor, church, assignment, offering, or ministry determines what the outcome would be at the harvest season.
In Galatians 6:7, the Bible says:
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap.
Brethren, if your seed is bad, your harvest is going to be bad. If you plant bad seeds, your harvest will be terrible. Many people will go to church to give the kind of money that beggars will not receive, that is the harvest you should expect. Giving bad offerings (not quantity) is dishonoring to God.
In 1 Sam. 2:30b, the Bible says:
….But now the LORD says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise a Me shall be lightly esteemed…
Every born again Christian is a farmer, we are in this world to sow our seeds and that is why we shall give an account of our works at the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor. 5:10 ). Whatever you get in life at the end of life is a result of what you have planted in it. What you earn is a result of what you have given out at the end.
The seed you sow determines the harvest to expect in your finances too. As I said, the seed is not always about money. As a matter of fact, anything good done to someone is a seed that can bring material, emotional or financial blessings.
Oral Robert told a story of how his father who was a farmer was planning to give December gifts to the local pastor. He was selecting yams to take to the pastor and willfully leaving out the best ones until the Lord spoke to him. Take the best and go give it to him. That is your seed. If you give the worst, you are planting a bad seed. I learned this life-changing principle when I read his book “Attack your lack” years ago”.
Finally, choose your harvest as the year is going to an end.
