*SHOULD A CHRISTIAN SUFFER FINANCIALLY – PART 3?*

*BIBLE TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 8:9*

*For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes, he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.*

We have established the fact that God wants us rich. The verse above says he became poor so that we through what he suffered for us might become rich. What does this mean? Poverty is a curse. This is a fact. However, Jesus dealt with all curses so that we don’t have to walk in them again (Galatians 3:13-14). This is why the bible says for our sakes he became poor. How did he become poor? It is not a lack of money that made him poor because he never lacked money anytime on earth. He was always above every need and want. He got money from the mouth fish he needed to pay tax and multiply bread and fish when he needed to feed people and too many to buy bread for. Every believer can be ahead of financial trouble like that. Praise God. Hence he became poor when he strip himself of all his glory in heaven and came to health to become man and died for a man (Phil. 2:5-11).

At this point, let us consider the origin of biblical increase and the principles that guide them.

In Gen. 1:28, God gave us the command to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth. God asks us to have dominion and subdue the earth. This command as good as it is cannot be accomplished with prayer alone. There is something to be done to walk in the reality of it. Prayer alone cannot even give you a child in terms of fruitfulness, you have to meet your husband or wife. Likewise, all other commands in the Bible require actions and principles for manifestation. Let us consider Gen. 8:22.

In Gen. 8:22, the Bible says:

While the earth remaineth, SEEDTIME AND HARVEST, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Beloved, this verse says as far as the world is concerned, there will always be a seedtime and harvest time. I know cold and heat seasons haven’t stopped since God said it. Summer and Winter haven’t stopped since God said it. Day and night are still in force till now. Definitely, seedtime and harvest time also is still valid. What is the implication of this? There is a time to plant a seed and a time to harvest what you have planted. If you plant nothing right now, you will never harvest anything later on. Meditate on this verse and I will explain further on it tomorrow.
