TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING YOUR TRIAL OF FAITH – PART 3

*BIBLE TEXT: 1 PETER 5:10*

*But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you**.

Many believers do not enjoy the promise of being settled, established, strengthened, and perfected because they did not endure until the end. We learned in the previous post that God would lead us to hard places to mature us as believers. If you refuse to stay faithful to God in the time of temptation, you may not enjoy the promise that follows. This is why many Christians go through the same process of falling and rising again and again.

Beloved, it is those who endure the trial of their faith that would taste the glory ahead. There is always a joy at the end of every trial and temptation. When you take a shortcut to avoid the pain of sacrifice, you will end up missing the fun of it. You don’t have to sleep with that man until you tie the knot. That could be your test of faith. You don’t have to steal in your office to belong in society. You may have a need today but your need today can stay till you are able to go for it. Blackberry reigned at a time but has lost out in the market today. Some people did everything unthinkable to get it and miss God’s plan for their lives. We are still living when the blackberry is longer trending. Nothing trends forever except God.

In Luke 4:14, the Bible says:

*And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.*

This happened after Jesus’s temptation, he returned with power. There is always a glory that follows every temptation. But when we quit, we lose the benefit of it. Do you notice the fame came after he won against the devil? Had it been he failed, he wouldn’t have had such power today. Imagine he went ahead to turn stone to bread, that may be the end of his reign. Many of us are turning stone to bread to prove to our friends that we have arrived. We just want to do what is not necessary and beyond our financial status to belong and ended up failing our temptation.

Brethren, until God can trust you, he cannot entrust great things into your care. Jesus got a name above all other names after he overcame death. What you are passing through today is a test of faith so far it is not your sin that led you into that state. Even if your sin does, you can repent and move on.

Finally, brethren, there is no time called too late. God promised to establish, perfect, strengthen, and settle you after your trial. What you need to be sure about during your time of waiting is that you are not behind your delay. Be prayerful and obedient to his leading and his promise will come to pass in due time.
