TOPIC: HE LOVES YOU MORE
In ROMANS 5:5, the Bible says:
*And maketh not ashamed; BECAUSE THE LOVE OF GOD IS SHED ABROAD IN OUT HEARTS BY THE HOLY GHOST which is given unto us*
At salvation, we became a new creature. A totally changed person without any traces of bad records. God doesn’t keep records of our past sins. We receive a new nature of God and it produces fruit unto righteousness. We receive a new spirit within us. Holy Spirit comes to dwell in our inner man at salvation (Eph.3:17).
In the text, the Bible says: ….. *the love of God has shed abroad in our heart* …..
You see, the love of God is the evidence that a man has experienced salvation indeed. It is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that is given to us. Love is one of the fruit of the Spirit (Gal.5:22). This is why it’s not possible for a Born Again Christian not to love God and hates what God hates.
God hates sin but He loves everyone. Jesus died for the whole world, not the Christians alone. The world will be condemned because they refuse to accept Jesus as their Saviour. We must also understand that even though God hates sin but he doesn’t hate sinners. He wants them to repent of their wrong deeds. We must learn to separate sinners from their sins.
You don’t need to force a Born Again Christian before they show their love towards God in keeping His words. It naturally flows from the heart that has been regenerated. Love of God compels even a baby Christian to want to do everything to please the Lord. Just as earthly children naturally love their parents, so also a genuinely born again Christian loves His heavenly Father.
In Heb.8:11, the Bible says:
*And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.*
Also in Jeremiah 31:33-34, God made this promise:
*This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, declares the LORD*. *I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts*
*I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, Know the LORD, because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.*
Listen, if the only reason you are not committing sin is that you are scared of hellfire, you are not yet made perfect in God’s love. Our love for God ought to compel us to want to please him. There is hellfire but what if there is no hell, would you still please God with your life?
Because Abraham and the other patriarch didn’t love God because they heard about hell. Hell was not even mentioned in the Bible until Deut. 32:22. They love and fear God out of love not to win heaven. Praise God! They are all there in heaven watching you and me as we run our race on earth. -Heb.12:1-2
Jesus said in the gospel
*if ye love me, ye will keep my command* – John 14:15
It is the love we have for Him that constraint us to want to be like Him and please Him every day of our lives.
We are sold out to Him. We represent His interest wherever we find ourselves because we want to always show how much we love Him. We are bought with a price which is the Blood He shed on the Cross of Calvary, so we are not our own. We belong to Him and we are His ambassadors. We are joint-heirs with Him and He is our righteousness as He has made us the righteousness of God.
The problem with some believers is that they haven’t taken time to be in fellowship with Him to tell Him how they love Him and to hear from Him how much He loves them. When you understand the love of the Saviour for you, doing His will becomes natural and easy.
We have learned so much about God who is a consuming fire but little has been said about the love part of God. He loves us more than our human understanding can comprehend.
Every good tree (believers) automatically bears good fruit. If you find a tree bearing bad fruit naturally, it’s a bad tree(Not Saved).
We are saved by His grace and we are walking in the light of this truth and in His righteousness.
