TOPIC: THE GREAT SHEPHERD

TEXT: Ps 23:1, it says:

*The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want*

There are different names associated with God but one of the greatest among many names of God is *the great Shepherd*…

Your knowledge of God determines your relationship and what you can get from him. Many believers don’t know the depth, height and width of God’s love for them and that is why they find it difficult to trust him absolutely in every situation of life.

You see, we need to pray for understanding of his love for us. I know the church has taught a lot about God being a consuming fire but God Almighty is also the merciful and loving God. In fact, when you understand God’s love, you won’t have any restriction whatsoever when you come before his throne because you will understand that you are accepted by Him just the way you are.

Always pray this prayer that Paul prayed for the Church in Ephesus daily. It is found in Ephesians 3:18 that is, pray that;
*God will grant you wisdom and understanding to be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of God’s love and power in a believer*. This prayer changed my spiritual life.

You see, David boldly declared: *The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want*

What is the secret to his confidence? He knows it’s the responsibility of the shepherd to provide for the sheep. The day I had this revelation, I changed my perspective of thinking about needs. Since that day, I stopped seeking man for my personal needs and never I have called any mortal man since then for my personal need.

God is our shepherd. It is equally true that it’s his responsibility to provide for his flock. Sheep are led by their shepherd to where their food is found. You see, no cow under a shepherd will worry of where to find grass, *it is the shepherd’s duty to seek for green pastures and lead them there*. Listen, it’s lack of trust In God that is hindering our relationship with him.

The shepherd do not only provide food and water for the sheep. It is also the responsibility of the shepherd to *provide shelter and protection for the sheep.* if God is your shepherd, it’s God’s responsibility to protect and provide for your shelter. Listen, until you think this way and it becomes real in your spirit man, you may never walk in this truth and would never see the manifestation.

Listen, stop worrying about the devil if you are a child of God indeed. If truly you are in fellowship with God, God integrity is committed to watch over you. Every shepherd protects the sheep from the prey.

Can I ask you a question? Who is your shepherd? You see, some people claim to be born again but they are led by their unrenewed mind. Who is the leader in your life and business? God or You?. You can’t enjoy divine direction when you are your own leader. Do you give the Holy Spirit space to operate in your life and career?

Brethren, before we can say the Lord is our shepherd we must be truly committed to obeying God’s word. Are you truly keeping the words of Jesus? Some people are their own master in every areas of life but only want God to be their shepherd when it comes to marriage.

*God is either your Lord in everything or in nothing.*

David’s relationship with God was an exceptional one. He has so much confident in God. He knew God can’t fail him because he has always been his shepherd in every areas of life. Look, don’t dictate to God the portion of your life that is touchable. Let everything be subject to his authority and then, he will be ready to be your shepherd.

Is God indeed your shepherd?
