TOPIC: CAST YOUR BURDENS UPON JESUS
BIBLE TEXT: Ps 55:22
*Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved*
Do you have a burden in your heart? Is it marital, spiritual, ministerial, emotional, material and so on? God is saying cast them off your shoulder and lay it before me. Why? You are too small to help yourself. If you choose to help yourself, you will soon be faint, discouraged and exhausted.
In Matthew 11:28, the Bible says
*Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.*
How heavy is your burden? Jesus says in the verse above that there is provision for those who are carrying a heavy burden. Jesus is promising us rest for our fainting heart. Beloved, it’s only in Christ you will find rest. Enough of wandering in this world of wickedness.
Jesus is our burden bearer. Many are carrying their burden and that is why they are burdened by life challenges. They look dejected, helpless, sorrowful, aging and full of depression because they are trying to carry their problems.
Do you know you can be going for prayer meeting every day and still hold to your burden? When you can’t stop thinking about your problem after you have told it to Jesus, you are still carrying the burden on your own. Why must you be looking helpless when you have the helper of the helpless. Listen, you either cast your burden on Jesus or you live to carry it on your own.
The verse says *….cast your burden on the Lord and HE SHALL SUSTAIN THEE*
You see, many people have rearranged the statement today. They want God to fulfill the *sustaining side* before they will cast off their burden. Until you cast your burdens on him, you won’t experience his sustenance. That’s faith. Until you act in faith, you can’t see the miraculous.
Beloved, how God will or the method is going to use to sustain you is not your concern. Yours is to obey, it is his own responsibility to perform. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego never knew how God would deliver them from Nebuchadnezzar fiery the fiery furnace but they boasted “our God shall deliver us” and indeed, the Great and Mighty God was there in the fiery furnace before they even landed.
Many times we think weeping can change the situation. I have not read in the Bible that a woman/man wept and God answered her. It’s possible to weep with prayers but not weeping alone with offering prayers and supplication. Weeping won’t move God except there is prayer attached.
Hear this, worrying won’t move God. It will only dry up your bones. In fact, worrying is a sin because it shows your lack of trust in God. Listen, anything you can’t change, just hand it over to God.
In Prov.17:12, the Bible says:
*A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones*
Many Christians today pray to God but only a few have trust in him that he will answer. If not, why do you still worry about the situation after you have told God in the prayer meeting? When you tell God, give him time to act. Your doubt will destroy your answer to prayer. Can you just give God a week at least to prove that he heard you so far it’s not an emergency case?
You see, when doctors tell people they should wait for one week before the operation will be carried out, they will believe and obey them but when they pray to God, they are impatient for Him to reply in one week but will go ahead and find alternatives. That enough can ruin your testimony.
Beloved, you have to get to a level where you can trust God without grumbling or anxiety.
In 1 Peter 5:7, the Bible says:
*Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you*
What a life-changing statement.
God is more concern about your challenges than you ever think. Beloved, personally I have always heard from God and His words to me always have shown to me that he is a concern even about what I am going to eat. This is 100% true beloved. How much more when I have needs to meet. It’s also the same testimony.
You see, I found it very hard to believe God can abandon or fail me. I can’t think about it. I just believe he is too faithful to forget me for a minute. We need to understand the depth, height and breadth of God’s love to the world and most importantly to the Saints who we are.
How can you have a big God and suffer humiliation because of the burden of life? You are too precious in God’s sight that he can’t abandon you.
