Bible Text: Gen. 12:3
Beloved, you have a role to play if you must enjoy all the promises of God in any area of life. Lack of this understanding has made many people– prayer warriors without ever tasting championship.
Until you fulfill your own side of the bargain, you may never walk in the fullness of what God has for you.
The promises of God can easily be read by everyone from the Bible but only those who know, confess, apply the principles and do the needful will enjoy it. There are many of us who have read the promise of God in 3 John 2 that “I wish above all things that thou may prosper….” but our life is directly opposite this promise.
You see, any faith that expects God to do everything for you is a useless faith. God has a role to play and you also have responsibility. Salvation is free but you still have to believe the gospel to be saved. Faith is free but until you hear and read the word of God, you can’t have faith -Romans 10:17.
God has given us his principles that we must obey to enjoy his fullness, it is our responsibility to follow those principles.
Listen, you must learn to look into the scripture diligently and highlight verses that talks about your own challenges in life. Study and meditate on them. Confess them and appropriate them into your life.
You see, If we are now crying to God; give me this, do that for me, God will simply say *‘I have told you what to do, it is better you follow it or remain in one place’*. Many people in church today are shouting “do it, do it Father” but God is saying, I have told you what to do; I have done my side.
When God says be fruitful in His word to a family, until you meet as husband and wife, you will never produce a child. You may even fast for 40 days and 40 night shouting God give me a child but it won’t produce children for you. You must obey the law of increase by meeting as couples according to Gen. 1:28
If you are praying for the increase, you must first scatter to increase. If you refuse to plant a seed of corn, you will continue to have your single seed but if you plant that single seed, after three months, you will have more than 1,000 new seeds. Until you have sowed your talent, skills, competencies where it’s needed most, you may never increase. You must learn to polish, repackage, market your abilities to attract value and increase. If you have a single source of income, it may mean you must increase your sources of income. Add something to what you’re doing. That’s how to increase. Prayer alone is not enough, you must increase your scope- Prov. 11:24. If you’re stagnant in scope, you can never increase.
Another example is sowing & reaping. Sowing precedes reaping. No matter the level of prayer on the soil, until you sow there, you will never reap anything good but weeds. You may Pray all you like, sowing must precede reading. That’s the word of God in Gen. 8:22 & Luke 6:38
Other examples are:
You want to live long, honour your parents: Exo. 20:22
To reject devil in your home, resist him steadily not once. That means your home must have altered for God: Eph. 4:27,
To dominate: Expand your territory- Jn 12:24
To grow spiritually, desire the sincere milk of the word of God-1 pet. 2:2
To have great and prosperous children, you must sacrifice in paying their school fees, in prayer, in discipline, in spending time with them….
What I am saying is this, to enjoy the promises of God, you must be ready to follow his principles.
In Luke 18:18-23, a young man who claimed to have done all realized he hasn’t kept the smallest of all commandments. He thought he has fulfilled all the requirements. Many of us are like that….
If you haven’t gotten the answer, there is likely something you’re yet to discover and do.
