WHY WE MUST SEEK THE LORD PART 2

Today’s devotional 17/10/19

Text: Ps 34:5…..

“I sought the Lord , and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears”

Our God is not a prayer storing God but the prayer answering God. When David sought for the Lord, He found him. God heard David. I believe God hasn’t changed today.

Moreover, we are under a better covenant that is founded on a better promises- Heb. 7:22 .

Why would God who calls for prayer without ceasing not answer to his vow which says:

*whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved*.

Do you think God takes pleasure in delaying answer to our most important issues? No.

In verse 5 of Ps. 34, the bible says

*They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed*.

You see, those who seek God early in life don’t suffer shame. It doesn’t matter what you are passing through, Jesus is still the only true way out of any situation we find ourselves.

Beloved, don’t be intimidated or discouraged by the mockery of those who asked why God hasn’t showed up for you. Your appointed season shall not pass you over. Never get tired of trusting God for the miracle you desire. Earnestly desire your miracle even against all odds. Those who put their trust in God will never suffer shame. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, victory is sure.

But it is very important to establish that before we claim to be looking unto God, we must search our heart to be sure we don’t have alternative somewhere. You are not looking to God when you’re stylishly visiting fetish powers. No.

I humorously tell people around me that “anything Jesus cannot “do” or “give to me”, may it remain “undone” and may I never have it. I am too sure Jesus can never fail me.

Some claim to be looking to God but support themselves by going to demonic gods (demonic God is found anywhere JESUS is not accepted as the savior).

Another challenge we face in this presence is the issue of time.

Beloveth, it will take discipline to create time to seek God’s face. If you are not determined to have fellowship with God, it will likely impossible to do create time because our jobs’ demand is just too much.

I read in Robert Kiyosaki book “the unfair advantage” that you need to ‘mind your own business even when you are working for another employer.”

Even though the principle was centered around business, it is good to apply such in our spiritual lives.

Listen, if you don’t take a time to wait on the Lord to address that situation which I call your own business under this context, you can work as you like and continually remain in discomfort.

Finally, in our golden text, David gave testimony that he sought the Lord and the Lord heard him.

If you seek the Lord, he will hear your voice & answer you. Just note that seeking goes beyond 5 mins prayer. It’s separating yourself to be with the Lord for the purpose of refreshing, addressing issue that pertains to you or someone else.

How long have you been praying about the same issue? Is it a problem with God or with you? Have you done self examination to confirm that you are not your own enemy, blocking your own prayers from being answered?

Be reminded, if you still live in sin, it will be difficult to have relationship with God. It may be the secret sins you refuse to confess to God and forsake that is causing you wasted effort from mountains to mountains.

Until you settle the issue of sin, devil won’t stop hindering your prayers and accuse you before the throne of grace.
