*TOPIC: THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD – PART 5*

*BIBLE TEXT: PS 23:5*

*Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over*

*Message*

Many people recite the verse above but lack a proper understanding of its meaning.

You see, many confessions like Psalm 23 has become just a daily routine that the effect of the recitation is almost lost.

You see, we say *thou prepares a table before me, in the presence of my enemies* but in reality, an average Christian today want his/her enemies to die. What a contradiction!!

You see, God doesn’t “always” want your enemies to die because he prefers that your enemies watch your victory to stardom, after all their attempt to bring you down fails. The third group of Army sent to Elijah bowed before him- 2 Kings 1:7-13. God may want your enemies to bow down to you after your promotion. Joseph brothers were alive to witness the fulfilment of the prophecy of God in his life. They didn’t like to bow willfully but God prospered and exalted Joseph to a position of authority so that bowing to him becomes a necessity. This is why God didn’t punish them with death.

Your enemies cannot know how great your God is if they are in the grave. God wants to promote you amidst them so that they can understand why he is called the *I am that I am* & the Almighty God.
God wants those who disappoint you in relationship to see you as you walk down the aisles with a better-qualified person. He wants to turn your waiting for years to a celebration others will pray for. He wants to decorate your delay with unforgettable joyous celebration. All these he would do in the presence of your mockers.

He wants your village witches to watch your convoy drive pass with your security escorts as you enter the town with an entourage.

Listen, the word “prepares” in the verse is from the Greek word “arak” which means to furnish. So it means, God furnishes the table for you before your enemies. He decorated your table so that your enemies can watch you as you enjoy the blessings of the Lord.

You see, many children of God are scared of being furnished. They are scared of devil and witches from their village. They prefer to live in penury because of their fear of village witches.

I know many of us don’t want God to actually make our blessings visible to our enemies. We have been taught that witches and wizard can kill you if you prosper too much and make it known to them. Beloved, pray more. There are blessings that can it be covered and God will give it to you.

Listen, God is a master planner. How? God did not only prepare the table before David, he did something more…….

The verse continues:

*thou anointed my head with oil: my cup runneth over*

why did God anoint his head with oil?

God knew the devil will come after you after he has blessed you. So, God anointed your head with the anointing of the Holy Spirit so that devil will not be able to touch you after he has furnished a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Praise God

You have nothing to fear. God has made provision for your safety before he prepares the table for you. This is the main reason the bible says: *the blessing of the Lord makes rich and added no sorrow* – Prov. 10:22. God can’t give you blessings that will be accompanied by sorrow. Stay lifted.
