Good morning Saints,
TOPIC: HOW TO LAY UP FOR YOURSELF TREASURES IN HEAVEN
BY: ISAAC O. AGBENLA
Bible: Matt. 6:19-20
*Lay not up for yourself treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt……. But lay up for yourself treasures in heaven…….*
I remembered the Lord saying to me a few years ago that “the best form of investment with good dividend is investment in my kingdom”…
The question then was, how do I invest in God’s kingdom. Is it all about big offerings, tithes, seeds? No.
In this short piece, I want to highlight some investment you can do in God’s kingdom with biblical references.
1. *Consecration*: Give yourself totally to God. Let your spirit, soul and body be useful for God and not as instrument of sin in the hand of devil. You cannot give your heart to God in salvation and give your body to devil by fornicating. Don’t be a Christian in Church and display immoral behaviours outside Church – Rom. 12:1, 1 Thessalonians. 4:3, 1 Thes. 5:23, 2 Cor. 6:14-18, 1 Cor. 6:13-20
2. *Support the poor with your best and excesses*: You relieve God of daily demands by men when you solve someone’s problem. JESUS told us that when we give a cup of water to a Christian, we did it for him – Matt. 10:40-42. When you solve a problem, that problem bearer will not seek God’s attention for it again. It reduces the number of prayer point in heaven. In so doing, you are laying up treasures that can be withdrawn anytime in heaven.
Proverbs 19:17 says:
*He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.*
3. *Support God’s servant:* Missionaries are all over the world seeking financial assistance to make their stay in strange lands a success, contribute to their success on mission field. Pray for them. Give to your local pastors and overseers too. Those who feed you with the word of God should also receive your material blessing. An average Christian don’t see any reason why their pastor should benefits from their blessings.
Pause, have you seen this verse before….
1 Corinthians 9:11 which says:
*If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?*
They are working for God’s kingdom so giving to them equals giving to God’s kingdom. Buy them gift when you travel not just daddy thank you for your prayers. They are not beggars but only the fruit of their labour. You know how to call your pastor for prayers over your business but very ungrateful when the blessing arrives.
4. *Build for God*: If you have capacity to build a parish for your church, do it. If you can’t build alone, contribute to the building project. Look at your church and check what is missing, buy it there.
It may be a wall clock or flower flask. Don’t complain the generator is noisy when you can afford to replace it. That’s how to support God’s kingdom- Zechariah. 1:17
