Understanding Grace and it’s components

By: Isaac O. Agbenla

Grace be to you and peace from God the father, and from our Lord Jesús Christ.

Grace and peace are two essential words found in all Apostle Paul epistle to the church. He prays for his children to abound in it anytime he writes to them. Everything we receive under the new covenant comes through faith and grace. We receive salvation by grace through faith not of works lest any should boast- Eph.2:8. You can’t separate grace from faith. It takes faith in God to abound in grace just as it takes grace of God to increase in faith in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. When the grace of God is available, the faith to receive will be impacted without stress.

Meanwhile, the level of grace upon individuals differs. What many fail to understand is that grace and peace can multiply through knowledge- 2 Peter 1:2. Knowledge is key. This is not talking about scientific knowledge but the knowledge of God that comes through fellowship and intimacy. There is different between knowing “about God” and knowing God. Almost everyone on earth knows about Jesus but billions don’t know him because they refuse to act on what they know about Him.

Note: You can’t grow in the knowledge of God without the Word of God- 1 Peter 2:2

The closer you are to God the greater the grace you carry. This is not talking about being churchy. To increase in grace and peace of God, you must get acquainted with God. Your knowledge of God through intimacy and fellowship in pray and in the word is essential if you must grow in the grace of God. Many people dare to do what another person is doing without carrying same grace they carry.

The source of grace and peace is God Almighty who through our faith in Christ Jesus releases His blessings upon us.

Grace is not earn by works. It abounds through a personal walk with God. We cannot be in sin and expects the grace of God to abound- Rom.6:1-2. Some fell from grace because they took the grace of God for granted. Grace that leads and empowers you to live your life to please the devil and do his works is nothing but deception. Grace enables a Christian to live above disgrace because sin is a disgrace to the power of the cross.
