*Topic: Why some Christians operate under curse mentally*
*By: Isaac Oluwaseun Agbenla*
*Bible: Gal. 3:13-14*
*Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:*
*That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.*
Even though Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, do you know many both again Christians still live and think as if they are still under the aborted curse?
Why is it that the majority of Christians still don’t walk in the reality of the biblical truth?
Why is it that, prayer on curses from father and Mother’s house is raised in some churches every Sunday?
The answer is simply “ignorance of the New Testament Realities”.
Many pastors are victims themselves
In Ephesians 1:7, the bible says;
*That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give unto you the *SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM*
The spirit of wisdom and revelation to understand what God had provided for us through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection are very crucial.
In Hosea 4:6, the bible says;
*My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge*
You see, the information you receive in your mind determines the way you think and behave. What you are told consistently over a period of time automatically becomes a part of you. I answer to my name because my parent told me that is my name. I think like a Yoruba and as a Nigerian, because I was cultured that way. Now, apart from the fact that that I was told and it has registered in my mind, if you dissect my body today, you will not see anything that shows am Yoruba or a Nigerian. What am I saying? Everything you believe and the way you think and reason are a function of what has been programmed in you through the information you listen to for years. You think curse because of you about it. If you haven’t heard anything about curse all your life, would you think you are under a curse? No. Many fake prophets and pastor uses this fear of curse to put the gullible in bondage.
Christians are actually living below what Jesus has accomplished for us maybe because our eyes of understanding have not been enlightened enough to comprehend this eternal victory won by our Lord at Calvary. There is more to redemption than we are tapping.
We have been taught that God is angry with sin which is true but little has been said about the abundance of his grace we inherited through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. Little is being said about eternal life and the gift of righteousness by faith. You cannot have eternal life in you and curses from maternal or paternal life will be reigning on you. Eternal life is the God kind of life that is void of any curse or plague.
Jesus didn’t die for anything but for our total dominion and victory over every force of darkness.
You see, the same lack of understanding resulted in people relying on the law that brought a curse to them as their source of freedom.
It’s faith in Christ and Christ alone that can deliver us from the curse of the law. When you trust Christ and believe in His finished work and not your works, then, what Christ accomplished at the cross of Calvary belong to you.
Freedom from all form of curses is guaranteed when salvation is followed by a good understanding of the finished work
Jesus became a curse for us. The law brought a curse. When you break the law, the curse will follow. Listen, as good Deuteronomy chapter 28 is, from 15 to 68, it is cursed that will follow your disobedience to any command in verse 1-14 in the Old Testament. For every disobedience, there is a curse attached under the Old Testament but under the New Testament, Jesus took our sins & curses melted to it and went to the cross.
When he went to the cross, he took the curse that follows our sins along. That was why the Bible in Gal. 3:13b that “* it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:*
Jesus was hanged & cursed on the tree carrying our sins and the curses so that whoever now believes that Jesus paid for his sins on the cross will receive Jesus’ free gift of righteousness. The righteousness that justifies before God is a gift – Rom. 5:17-18
When Jesus was going to the cross, he took our sins and gave us his righteousness in return. He also gave us the freedom he earned after rising from death. No more curse. No more condemnation – Rom. 8:1
Brethren, this truth will never do much for you without you studying and meditating on the Word of God. Many people today are in bondage just because they are ignorant. Study your Bible and Meditate on the eternal truth.
I can never be under a curse. Never.
