Good Afternoon Saints,

Topic: The weakness of the Law Part 2

Subtitle: The law cannot free you from condemnation

By : Isaac Oluwaseun Agbenla

Text: Romans 8:1

*There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit*

Brethren, never believe a lie that God the father, the son and the Holy Spirit are behind you condemnation whenever you do anything wrong because it’s not true.

To be condemn under this context could mean to declare someone unfit, guilty, unworthy before God either for eternal or present relationship.

Condemnation has three sources:

1. Your own heart/spirit- 1 John 3:20
2. Devil-1 Tim. 3:5-6
3. Human beings- Job and his friends

Listen, you will never find a place in the Bible where God or Holy Spirit condemns a Christian. Holy Spirit can convince you of the wrong doing, that is, give you inner unrest about the wrong step you have taking most especially when you commit sin.

Condemnation is the main cause of depression in many people and it is not traced to God. Many backslide because of accusation from men and devil.

Look, It’s your own spirit that condemns you whenever you go too low to allow yourself to be used as instrument of unrighteousness. This is not talking about fornication and adultery alone. It includes when you maltreat others or take advantage of people for personal gain and pleasure. It’s all the same sin.

In 1John 3:20, the Bible says:

*For if our HEART condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.*

Do you notice the Bible says our heart which is also referring to our spirit man? It is never the Holy Spirit but our own spirit. Even at that, God is greater than our heart that condemns. How? There is forgiveness for whatever sin brings you under condemnation from our own spirit man. 1 John 1:7-9 says all sins can be forgiven once it is repented of.

Condemnation destroys faith before God. It destroys your confidence. You should rely on Holy Spirit whenever you fell under condemnation after wrong doing. You cannot rely on Holy Spirit if you think he is responsible for your condemnation and that is why I tried to let you know Holy Spirit is not the one condemning you but your regenerated spirit that is born again.

Note: If you continue in same sin your repented of, you will soon open door for devil’s condemnation.

When Jesus was on earth, he resisted pressure from people to condemn sinners.

For example in John 8:10-11
*When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?*

*She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.*

You see, Jesus didn’t come to the condemn anyone. He came to reconcile the world to God.

Look at this verse

2 Corinthians 5:19

*To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, NOT IMPUTING THEIR TRESPASSES UNTO THEM; and hath committed unto us the word of RECONCILIATION.*

Many pastors today go about condemning their congregation every Sunday as if they were giving ministry of condemnation. God is not going about telling people they are doom for hell but sharing the good news of reconciliation. We are sent to reconcile not to condemn.

Condemnation already awaits everyone that refuses the gospel of Christ. There is a day set apart for condemnation and that is after death.

Jesus himself had this to say:

In John 3:17, the Bible says:

*For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.*
