When God is Silent Part 7: Humility as a remedy

Today’s Devotional Message
Topic: When God is Silent Part 7
Sub Topic: Humility as a remedy
By: Isaac O. Agbenla
Text: In 2 Chr. 7:14, the Bible says:

If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn away from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

When God is silent, what can we do? Many today are at the crossroads devastated because they have lost their peace and direction in life because of God’s silent concerning their case. I hope following biblical remedies will help.

1. Humble yourself: Many things have been said about humility before man but genuine humility is first, acknowledging your fault before God and accepting the correction offered by the Lord whether it’s convenient or not. Arrogance before God leads to ultimate destruction. No matter the number of time you say yes sir to man and woman on earth, if you can’t humbly take the instructions of God serious, you are the most arrogance. The grace of God will only be available for the humble because he resists the proud. You cannot justify your wrong act before the Lord. No condition should be the reason why you disobey the Lord. Never find a reason why your wrong act should be justified in the sight of God. It’s better to accept your wrong than to defend your right before God. No flesh will be justified before God by his works.

In 2 Chr. 7:14, the Bible says:
…If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves…

Humility before our maker is the secret of our greatness and fulfillment in all endeavours. The people of Nineveh were already set for destruction but their humility save the generation. God is not looking for ladies who will justify modern day prostitution and he is looking for men who will justify their unholy relationship with opposite sex. He is not looking for pastors that will justify why he/she is stealing from the church purse in the name of honorarium and he is not looking for leaders who will justify their reasons for wicked attitude towards their subordinates. God is looking a man and a woman that is not after self-glorification and justification before men. He is looking for men like David who after committing murder would still bow his head in shame and confess to the prophet even as the king of Israel. God will not be available to men who want to cover up their evil deeds because they want men to see them as holy when they are rotting within. David cried before Nathan and said “I have indeed sin against my God”. That is the kind of heart God is waiting for. David was cumbered with the chains of sin yet he was able to hear from God again because he humble himself before the throne of grace. Enough of arrogance and covering of dirty and shady deals. Why not open up and allow the merciful God to intervene before the year is over.

Do you know God’s silence may be because you have chosen to be wiser than God? Do you know you may have been running here and there without direction from God because you have chosen to dwell in sin and yet pretend to the holiest in church? Beloveth, God cannot be mocked. He is all knowing. Don’t be like that man called Judas who was following Jesus yet his heart was far away from Christ. Satan has kept many in bondage to their hidden sin. He ensures they remain silent to sin that is destroying their testimonies year in and year out. Enough of church going without transformation.

Listen, praise and worship is not acceptable before God until the heart is acceptable to God. Some sing praises to God without any connection. They are singing but they have dried up in the spirit. Many are dead in spirit yet singing praises that doesn’t go beyond the roof tops. It is exercise in futility.

In Matthew 18:3-4, the bible says:

……Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter the Kingdom of heaven, whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Beloved, many people will speak grammar in hell. Except ye be converted, no other way out. No amount offering can be substituted for humility. Humility means accepting and repenting from your wrongs. We must come down from the ratings to men to learn from the Lord. It is not all about what men call us or our title before men, if God sees no value in your title, it is waste of time. You can be the general Overseer and God is not overseeing your ministry. Education is irrelevant in heaven. Many professors will forget theories in the lake of fire. It is pride that makes men end up in hell. When you are not ready to say sorry and repent from your sins, you put yourself in dangerous zone of eternal damnation.
You don’t have to force children to say sorry because they have not nothing to prove to anyone. If you have something to prove before God, then you will have to tell your stories in hell.
